褒义形容词

1 表达 “重要的”important

一出口就光会说这个,你有没有想过以下这些高分的替换词汇?

(1)vital ['vaɪt(ə)l]:必不可少的;对…极重要的;生命的;维持生命所必需的

It is no doubt that the education of the youth is vital to a country.

不言而喻,青年人的教育对于一个国家的未来是至关重要的。

(2)crucial ['kruːʃ(ə)l]:至关重要的;关键性的

The requirement upon listening skill has always been a crucial part of English acquisition.

听力技能的要求一直是英语习得的重要一环。

(3) prominent ['prɒmɪnənt]:重要的;著名的;杰出的;显眼的

Archimedes had a very prominent saying: give me a fulcrum and I can pry up the whole earth.

阿基米德有句名言:给我一个支点,我可以撬起整个地球。

(4)cardinal ['kɑːd(ɪ)n(ə)l]: 最重要的,最基本的;n. 基数;枢机主教;纯数;红衣凤头鸟(见于北美,雄鸟为鲜红色)

2 优秀的 good

(1)excellent ['eks(ə)l(ə)nt]:优秀的;杰出的;极好的;(用以表示愉快或赞同)好极了

It takes years of hard work to be an excellent interpreter.

(2)outstanding [aʊt'stændɪŋ]:杰出的;尚待解决的;突出的

3 有趣的 interesting

The children staged an entertaining puppet show.

His engaging personality made him popular with his peers.

4 有活力的 energetic

(1) dynamic [daɪ'næmɪk]:充满活力的;活跃的;精力充沛的;不断变化的

Mr. Mason was quite alive now, interrogative, dynamic and a bit dictatorial in his manner, even to his old friend.

It is notable that the business spa differs from its traditional counterpart in two main respects.

9 有益的 helpful

(1) favorable ['feɪvərəbl]:有利的;赞许的;优惠的

He made a favorable impression on her father.

It can be beneficial to share your feelings with someone you trust.

It is a very rewarding exercise to work this out oneself.

1 许多 many

(1) numerous ['njuːm(ə)rəs]:许多的;众多的;为数众多的

There are numerous reasons why . . . , and I shall here explore only a few of the most important ones.

(2) a host of:很多

I believe that this view is mistaken and that it leads to a host of entirely unnecessary difficulties.

3 普遍的 common

Mobile telephony is now commonplace around the world.

贬义形容词

1 有害的 harmful

(1) damaging ['dæmɪdʒɪŋ]:造成破坏的;有害的;损害的

Many chemicals have a damaging effect on the environment.

(2) ruinous ['ruːɪnəs]:耗资巨大的;无法承担的;破坏性的;导致严重问题的

The decision has proved to be ruinous.

(3) destructive [dɪ'strʌktɪv]:破坏性的;极其危险的

The city witnessed the destructive force of the storm.

这座城市遭受了这场暴风雨的巨大破坏力。

2 困难的 difficult

(1) demanding [dɪ'mɑːndɪŋ]:要求高的;需要高技能(或耐性等)的;费力的;要求极严的

He found he could no longer cope with his demanding job.

3 无聊的 boring

I find it very tiresome doing the same job day after day.

4 忧虑的 worried

I'm anxious for her to do as little as possible.

He was anxious about the enormity of the task ahead.

She was deeply apprehensive that something might go wrong.

6 怀疑的 doubtful

(1) skeptical ['skeptɪkəl] 怀疑地;心存疑惑地;将信将疑地

However, I encourage you to be skeptical about what I tell you.

Many were skeptical about this solution.

许多人对这一解决办法表示怀疑。

(2) suspicious [sə'spɪʃəs] 感觉可疑的;怀疑的;令人怀疑的;不信任的

The ingenuous person had never thought of being suspicious of what others told him.

Most organizations are, quite understandably, suspicious of new ideas.

(3) incredulous [ɪn'kredjʊləs]
